Gabriola

Gabriola epitomizes west coast island living. With a full time population of just over 4,000 there are enough residents to support a small village. This includes four restaurants, two coffee shops, liquor stores, a pharmacy, a gym and of course a grocery store. In the summertime there is also a weekly farmers market. The island is serviced by a dedicated ferry from Nanaimo that runs continuously from early morning to late night. There is also a local bus service, ‘Gertie,’ a float plane terminal at the south end, two fire halls, an ambulance service and a local health centre. Around the island are numerous beautiful beaches, an assortment of marinas as well as three Provincial parks and a public golf course.
